Superluminescent Light Emitting Diodes (SLEDs) and highly customized semiconductor light sources, announces that it has joined the recently formed LaSAR (Laser Scanning for Augmented Reality) Alliance, an international federation of leading industry groups and consortia dedicated to the advancement of augmented reality (AR) eyewear applications.

EXALOS introduces RGB Micro-Modules for the Development of Compact Smart Glasses at Photonics West 2022
March, 2022: At Photonics West 2022 (San Francisco, CA), EXALOS, the world’s leading developer of visible Superluminescent Light Emitting Diodes (SLEDs) introduced what the company believes is the smallest RGB micro-module with laser diodes (LDs) or SLEDs. These modules will enable the development of augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) smart glasses designs based upon displays using laser beam scanning (LBS) architectures.

EXALOS presents new combined-SLED modules and groundbreaking 488nm Laser Diodes and SLEDs at Photonics West in San Francisco
Jan 17th, 2022: EXALOS presents new products. High-performance, ultra-broadband, fiber-coupled light sources based on superluminescent light emitting diodes (SLEDs) in a standard 14-pin butterfly package, achieving, for example, an ultra-broadband output spectrum with a 3dB bandwidth of 165nm at a center wavelength of 830nm, which translates into a coherence length of 2.5 microns in air. EXALOS has also realized a new milestone of its high-performance GaN-based light sources and is introducing high-power 488nm laser diodes in a TO56 package with a free-space output power of more than 50 mW as well as broadband 488nm SLEDs with an ex-fiber output power of more than 3 mW and a 3dB bandwidth of more than 5 nm.

Next generation RGB edge-emitting lasers for Augmented Reality
Red, green and blue edge-emitting lasers with milliwatt output powers and exceptional efficiency are lining up for augmented-reality applications. Recently, we have developed visible laser diodes that break new ground for low drive currents and minimal power consumption. These strengths, in demand for next-generation AR displays, give our lasers the credentials to compete in this sector with VCSELs, which are undoubtedly promising but less mature.
A compact RGB LD module – a light source for AR displays (July 2021)
EXALOS presents a miniaturized, full-color RGB light source module for near-to-eye display systems, incorporating three semiconductor laser diodes (LDs) that are integrated on a free-space, micro-optical bench together with collimation optics and wavelength filters. The ultra-compact package delivers up to 10 mW per color at low power dissipation values of 640 mW and provides low-divergent output beams.
