A new generation of 488nm Fabry-Perot laser diodes (FP-LDs)

The EXALOS team has developed a new generation of 488nm Fabry-Perot laser diodes (FP-LDs) with best-in-class conversion efficiency, good control of emission wavelength and long-term reliability.

These new devices will support a wide range of applications, and are particularly suited for fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry and spectroscopy.

As of now, the LDs are available as uncooled TO56 cans (Product No. ELA350003-01) with free-space light output and include a monitor photodiode for accurate power monitoring during device operation or for implementing automatic power control (APC). These devices deliver CW optical powers beyond 50mW at a current of 75mA (voltage of 5.5V).

Alternatively, a 14-pin Butterfly (BTF) version with single-mode fiber (SMF) or polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) output, delivering typical optical power values of 20-30 mW ex-fiber, is also available.

Unprecedented Performance

Using a new groundbreaking technology based on Aluminum Indium Nitride (AlInN) layers, EXALOS 488nm LDs achieve unprecedented performance in both electro-optical efficiency and laser beam quality.

With in-house epitaxial growth of III-nitride semiconductor layers and over 15 years of experience in the field of visible LDs and SLEDs based on GaN semiconductors, EXALOS is proud to deliver a product that meets new standards in the industry for the growing market demand of high-performance lasers at 488nm.
